Rest in Peace Joe

by Jay Thompson on August 3, 2010

Tonight, Joe lost his courageous battle with cancer.

I don’t have the words to express my sadness. The world is emptier without him.

Godspeed Joe, you will be missed but never forgotten.

never met a more kind, generous, loving human being… gone too soon… I’ll miss you, Joe. See you on the other side one day.

On behalf of the Lucky Strikers I can say that this is a dark day for our industry and anyone who ever met Joe. Easily one of the most quality people I have ever met and he was an inspiration to many. If you believe in a heaven, you can bet your last dollar that Joe is up there looking down at all of us and smiling with that Joe Ferrara grin for which he was known. RIP by friend. You are already missed.

Ahh Joe…you are going to be so sorely missed. We’re gonna miss your wit, your smarts, your discoveries, your innovations, your smile, your laughter and your big, big heart.

Thank you for making our world a finer place. Peace and prayers to Sandra and family. You’re a guardian angel now.

WOW, So sad to hear that terrible news! I met and got to know Joe at Inman NYC, RE Bar Camp, RE Tech South… He was a great guy and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family! Life is so short, what a loss.

A true loss to the world. His contributions will forever be felt, not only in RE.net but in the world at large.

This is a tremendous loss for the RE/Social Media community and a terrible shock for all. May his family be comforted by God’s grace and blessings during this difficult time.
I had invited Joe to teach a social media course at the Newman Institute at Baruch College and he had to back out in March… He called me and in his usual thoughtful and kind way, he was apologetic that the course would be canceled. What a giant soul.
I met Joe last year at the NY RE Expo and he was gracious, kind and eager to share his knowledge with students. He will be sorely missed.
R.I.P. Joe…

My condolences to Sandra and family. Loosing a loved one is hard.
I only know Jo from his blogs and articles and very much appreciated his insight and knowledge. The real estate community will dearly miss him. He was one of the pioneers in the changing online social media community.

Joe was one of the first people in RE.net that I could call a real friend. He was a trusted and loyal confidant, and I will miss him very much.

Hi Friends of Joe,

Joe Farrara was very fine to know .. I only knew him from helping me with a couple of small coop legal manners, and a couple of chats about this and that, like Gerald’s conspiracy position :) . And I would call him when he was back and forth from Phily to New York, he was always there to chat) and I was always so happy to have such integrity help. No muss, no fuss, no bureaucracy, trying to help from the heart. So sweet in a days of blandness and corporate malaise.

After a number of years, I was ready to contact him about a bit more and found out the sad news. He will be missed and his life and legacy is deeply appreciated, even from one who knew him so little, as the one fully righteous legal beagle, ready to help, ready to share.

Shalom,
Steven Spencer
